TF Prime Bootleg DVD by Leathurkatt-TFTiggy

I am posting this as a warning to all Transformers fans on my watch list.  I have received confirmation directly from Hasbro through a reliable contact that the DVD pictured above is a 3rd party bootleg ripoff, ergo stolen and not a legitimate product.  The photos were taken from an Ebay seller here --> www.ebay.com/itm/DVD-TRANSFORM…
and the company distributing it is here --> animelv.com/index.php?searchwo…

It is being made in and sold from Malaysia and is not a licensed product.  My ONLY reason for posting the photos in my scraps is to warn others not to purchase this DVD.  Here are all the bootleg copies being sold on Ebay so far, please help report these stolen products to Ebay as bootleg merchandise.  If you find one that is not listed, please let me know so I can add it to the list and help by reporting all listings selling these bootleg ripoffs.:

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!  THEY ARE SELLING BOOTLEG PRODUCTS, STOLEN MERCHANDISE!  By buying these bootleg DVD's you are receiving stolen property which is punishable by law.  I found out about it only because someone posted the exact same photo of the front cover in the group :iconprimerollout:, of which I am a member.  I researched the photo trying to find out if it was actually a legitimate product and found that you can only get it on Ebay or through the distributor linked above.  After sending the information to a friend with connections to Hasbro, I received confirmation that these are in fact 3rd party bootleg ripoffs.  Legitimate copies will look like the US release and have the 5 part Darkness Rising and have all the relevant logos on them: Hasbro, The Hub, and/or Takara Tomy.  As far as I understand it, the only companies I know of who have legitimate distribution rights for Hasbro/Takara (besides Hasbro Studios) shows are "Kid Rhino/WEA", "Shout! Factory", and "Vivendi Entertainment" through Shout! Factory (outside of Paramount and the live movies of course).  In Australia, "Madman Entertainment" holds the distribution license.  If you want to know what the legitimate US release looks like, I have photos of it in the thumbnail below.
TF Prime Videos by Leathurkatt-TFTiggy

For those who think the DVD is from Japan:  It's a bootleg from Malaysia!  All of the listings say the menu is in Chinese, the subtitles are in English and Chinese, and that it is produced/authorized in Malaysia.  The "Asian Characters" are even Chinese!  How does anyone get Japan from that?  Sorry, but Malaysia is NOT in Japan!  Malaysia is South of India with Singapore just South of Malaysia.  Japan is east of Korea.  Malaysia and Japan are about as far from each other as Canada is from Mexico.  Google map search it, duh!  g.co/maps/bme4t

Yes, I took and reposted the photos of the bootleg DVD, but I admitted they are not mine, I linked to where I got them, and I did so in order to show people what the bootleg ripoff looks like.  Nothing more.  I NEVER took credit for them, nor did I claim them as mine.  As for my "connection to Hasbro", yes I do in fact know people directly connected to Hasbro.  I will not reveal them because I do not want people harassing them, though I know people are going to call me a liar if I don't reveal my sources.  If my sources and connections wish to reveal themselves, it is their choice.  I know how to keep a confidence.  Duh.  I was not born yesterday, and I do my research.

It makes me sick that these thieves are selling not just Transformers Prime, but 8 other Transformers titles and who knows what other Hasbro or Takara property they have stolen.  This is why I am putting the word out to others not to buy these bootleg DVD's.  Support the companies that brought to life the characters we love, not some thief hiding in another country.

These are some of the legitimate Japanese Releases:

DO YOU KNOW HOW HAPPY THAT MAKES ME? xD I'm sooooo tired of having to use two different DVD players. x3

Thanks for the heads up and the official pictures of the DVD covers.

You can still buy them from Amazon, but ONLY from Amazon.com THEMSELVES. Their product is always listed first or in bigger, bolder font and the 3rd party sellers are listed under them. I am a regular at Amazon.com and only buy from 3rd party sellers that I KNOW are legit.

I really hate bootleggers and those people who buy from them as they're stealing money from the legit company who produces the DVD/movies/cartoon.

This is one thing you can tell it is not a legit item on a DVD. If it states Region 0 or Region free, there is no such thing as a Region 0 and Region free, that designation is for a home computer created region, which means it was not done in a factory, it was done at home of the bootlegger or at a place where he can do it multiple times and be able to produce several DVDs on a computer of his and package them and sell them claiming that they're from either Japan or some other country and they're not even from those countries.

Everyone knew that Japan was going to air TF: Prime Season 1 in a few weeks after these FAKE DVDs were produced with Chinese lettering on it. How can people claim that DVD is from Japan if they have Chinese lettering on it, claiming that it came from Region 0? I'm sorry but Japan's Region is not 0, but Region 2. Seriously, they are Region 2, not Region 0. Japan is south east of China, not in China and the Japanese would be speaking Chinese, not Japanese if they lived in China. Plus everyone knew that the Japanese would produce the DVDs later on in the year, not when they just put the show on the air on Japanese TV. They would be stupid to sell the DVDs at the same time as in airing the series on TV.

If anyone wants to see what the real, legit cover looks like, go here and take a browse: Transformers: Prime Vol 1 Japan DVD., Transformers: Prime Vol 2 Japan DVD, Transformers: Prime Vol 3 Japan DVD, Transformers: Prime Vol 4 Japan DVD, Transformers: Prime Vol 5 Japan DVD.

Volume 6 has not been released as of yet. Those links takes you to Amazon.com and there you can see the legit and very much official covers of Transformers: Prime Japan DVDs. If anyone has a different image on their Japan DVDs, they bought a bootleg.

Great job on reporting this stuff! Same thing with the toys, there's also bootlegs of those as well. though I'd rather buy the DVD's from big box retailers like Best Buy, or even Hasbro itself. It may cost more, but it's worth it.

It's been a long time since I bought anything from eBay; I got tired of the insistence on using PayPal to buy stuff (I won't go into why I don't like PayPal, though) and simply use my eBay account to keep an eye on products I might be interested in. One thing I will not buy anywhere other than a retail store (or reputable online store like Amazon.com) is copyrighted movies and television shows; too much of a chance of the product not being the genuine article. Thanks for keeping us updated on the stream of bootleg Transformers stuff on that site.

You're welcome. I've forwarded this info to people at Hasbro and they are taking the steps they need to deal with the Malaysian company producing and selling the bootlegs. I don't have an eBay account because I don't like or trust PayPal myself, so don't feel bad there. But I'm half tempted to go through and track down other TF titles that were bootlegged and being sold on eBay. Like you, I go through and only buy from legitimate retailers, including Amazon. That way my own aft is covered and I don't get busted for buying or possessing stolen property.

I wish more people would accept and realize that this is a huge issue that really needs to be dealt with. I've heard a lot of people say they won't buy licensed TF toys for whatever lame excuse they come up with. The problem is, if they buy the knockoffs, they hurt Hasbro, and by hurting Hasbro, they hurt the fandom because if Hasbro is not getting revenue from sales, we don't get more toys to add to our collections, and we don't get the awesome shows like Transformers Prime. The sale of the toys and DVD's is what makes it possible for Hasbro Studios to make the shows we love in the first place. I wish people would understand that.

I think they simply don't care; their logic (if you can call it that) is that the genuine articles are too expensive. So many people want cheap costs, no matter who it hurts; why do you think the economy is the way it is?

>.< Yeah, unfortunately. The problem is they can get in trouble for receiving stolen property if the companies (like Hasbro) wanted to pursue it. Getting cheap unlicensed crap is not worth the money or the hassle as far as I'm concerned.

Indeed, if they realize that they had been deceived by a seller, they would think twice about buying something that clearly is not even released in the country that the seller is claiming it is being released in, like say Japan and Transformers: Prime has just been released on TV there and they're suddenly releasing it on DVD there? That screams bootleg right there, for if they were putting it on TV and a few days later, they're putting it on DVD and the seller is like say in another country other than Japan and they're claiming it was released a few days before it went on TV. I would not buy something that is a bootleg as that it was not done by the original company that produced the show and it wouldn't put money into the companies bank account which would let them know that Transformers: Prime is a hot DVD.

Or both. She's a well known attention seeker and drama whore who has plagued several fandoms, from Mighty Ducks, Dinosaucers, and Mummys Alive, to Transformers, Mass Effect, and suddenly got into Twisted Metal just because a friend of mine has been playing the game series since the first one came out. She is well known for stalking and harassing people and has done so since at least 2001, as evidenced in a conversation I was linked to here --> [link] I mostly just ignore her, but when she directly attacks me like she did on her stolen photo and on a group's main page, I have every right to defend myself. The comments were pointed out to me by a friend and all of us have been laughing our butts off at just how ignorant and uncultured she just proved herself to be with those comments. XD

I know. Thus why I'm spreading the word to let everyone know that that DVD set from Malaysia is a bootleg ripoff and not to buy it. Buying knockoffs and bootlegs hurts all of us because if you buy them, Hasbro does not get the funding they need to continue the shows and toys we love, thus they cancel shows and toy lines and we all lose out. Support your favourite fandoms and the companies who bring them to us, buy licensed products only.
