My bro *CatalystSpark had suggested a while ago I put together a glossary of words Transformers use that differ from normal human lexicon, and ~pika reiterated that I should post something like this for people on DA. So, here it is! I originally started this list in May 2010, and now I think it's finally finished. I included terms for Transformer Biology that are necessary for any Transformer Medics to know, as well as slang, curses, and words in reference to their "religion" and beliefs. This is a HUGE file that spans 1000 pixels wide by 12000 pixels long. O.O HOLY CRAP! Yeah, there's a LOT of info there. XD

One item of note: contrary to TFA's habit of calling EVERYTHING in a Transformer's body a Servo, hands are NOT called servos! One of many reasons I greatly dislike TFA, erroneous terminology as well as grotesque designs for the robots (my opinion, sorry). A servo (servomechanism) is actually a motorized joint, so the hand would be a collection of servos (joints), actuators (muscles), support struts (bones), and armor plates (skin), with fluid lines (circulatory system/blood) and neural sensory threads (nervous system). PLEASE do not call their hands "servos"?! That's why I included a more anatomically accurate term for them (Dactyls), as well as for their feet (pedes).

I thought Autobot was simply short for Autonomous Robot.

In a literal sense yes, but Optimus explicitly states "Autonimous Robotic Organism" in both the live action movies and in TF Prime. Thus the meaning given here.

However, that might just be the term for "Cybertronian." In Transformers Exodus when he was still Orion Pax, he says "We are Autonomous Robots" Which when simplified becomes "Autobot"

Fan Fics? Yeah, I wouldn't trust that too much. Many of those tend to be wholy inaccurate with the vernacular, thus why I generally don't read them.
